Family Coaching

Family Coaching. When we decide to start a family, we are starting a journey that will take us to a series of stages, “Cycles of Life”. Being part of a family entails constant transformation, with different challenges as each cycle passes. From the formation of the couple, “expanding” with the birth of children, the stage from breastfeeding until they enter school, the cycle known as “consolidation” which is when the family has elementary level children until they become teenagers; when the children leave the home and the couple must re-adjust to their new reality, until the “dissolution” with old age and the death of one of the spouses occurs. Family Coaching is a method that will allow you to create strategies to recognize yourself as an individual in each of these stages, because self-knowledge is essential to improve relationships within your nuclear family that will lead to a collective well-being.

Family Coaching

Why start a Family Coaching process?

In our sessions we will focus on the capabilities and potential your family has, in order to build from them and create ways to improve your communication, and find a way to live together healthily in such a way that each member is aware and responsible for creating changes that strengthen their individual relationships.

A positive part of family coaching is that this methodology focuses on the present to create a future potential. That is, family coaching focuses on the search for solutions and not on the analysis of the past. Instead of observing conflicts as a limiting problem, you will be able to change your beliefs and transform these barriers into an opportunity to together rebuild those ties.

No matter what “family cycle” you are in, Family Coaching will allow you to increase your skills, values, beliefs and self-esteem to achieve a better relationship with the people you love most in this life.

Benefits

Some of the topics I frequently work on which benefit families are:

  • How to develop Emotional Intelligence or Mindfulness to better express emotions and create healthy bonds.
  • How to develop communication skills among family members.
  • How to look for different ways to solve problems in everyday disciplined situations in an effective manner.
  • How to inform and “protect” children in a way that they become emotionally and financially independent.
  • How to organize the responsibilities and obligations of each family member.
  • How to make an individual life plan linked to the family member, covering different areas to achieve a healthy balance. Some of the areas we work with are: financial, spiritual, professional/study, cultural, social, and health.

When families start Coaching with me, either in my Miami office or virtually, from across the world, I accompany them in one of the areas that I am most passionate about, family psychoeducation. I am so passionate about it that I have been working constantly with families for over 25 years, forming responsible and informed parents.

Approximately how long does your Family Coaching process last?

The sessions can last between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the objective to be achieved. They are generally once a week, however we will decide if it is necessary to see each other more or less frequently as after we working.

In the first sessions the main purpose is to define the “objective” to be reached, one which all the members agree on; we will subsequently work on this during 10 to 12 sessions. We will continually evaluate if the family members feel that they are achieving their goal through action plans, which we agree on in the session.

It is important to mention that in coaching, the family is responsible for choosing the route we follow, my role as their coach will be to “accompany them” in the process, respecting their rhythm, and action plans, as well as offering tools that can speed up the change.

Methodology

Before agreeing on a day and time, we will contact you to briefly discuss your goal, during that conversation I will confirm if I am the right person to accompany you in the process. If not, I will refer you to a colleague that I consider the best option for you. Later I will send you the “Coaching Agreement” where I explain in detail the way we will work, how our communication will be between sessions, and the price of my services. Any questions or comments will be resolved as soon as possible, later on we will coordinate the day and time for our first session.

It will be very gratifying for me to accompany you in the creation of new guidelines that will lead you to strengthen ties with your family. Our society is undoubtedly in need of healthy families with solid ties that allow for healthy couples and future generations.
